The Croquet Association have announced that the Apps Memorial Bowl for the most improved AC player of the year has been awarded to Bath Croquet Club’s Daniel Gott. Gott won this prestigious award due to his excellent performances in numerous national competitions throughout the year including the English Open, South of England and National Students Championships. These have resulted in a handicap reduction to -1.5 and a world ranking of 71st.

The CA have also asked the Bath club to host a number of National tournaments at the Rec in 2019. The club will be hosting the AC Selectors Tournament, with top players from around the country competing, at the end of August. They will also be holding a round of the GC B Level in July, the area final of the GC All England Handicap in August and the final of the GC Grass Roots competition in September.

The club will be holding their annual charity Open Day and Beginners course in Spring 2019. Further information on the club can be found at

For the information of those interested, as freeholder of Bath Recreation Ground we are aware of Bath Rugby’s intention to apply for a Declaration under S84 Law of Property Act 1925.

Accordingly we have taken Leading Counsel’s opinion in the matter.

Counsel advises us that it is “highly likely” that the restrictive covenants are not enforceable.

As before, our position remains reserved and we welcome the prospect of final clarity.”

We are very proud to announce that Bath Recreation Limited has received an award from the Institute of Groundsmanship.

The Institute is the leading membership organisation for grounds management, recognised by the National Governing Bodies of Sport and the public, private and voluntary sectors for its industry knowledge and technical expertise.

Earlier in the year Bath Recreation Ground received an anonymous nomination for an award.   We were then asked to submit a written testimony followed up by two visits to the Recreation Ground which resulted in shortlisting in the prestigious National Governing Bodies Multi-sport ground facility category.

At the Ceremony held on Wednesday 30 October 2018 our Grounds Manager, Dave Cobb collected the award, beating Manchester City FC and the London Stadium in the category.   The event was attended by representatives from many iconic sporting venues with an audience of nearly 1000 people from the industry.  The IOG Chief Executive said that BathRec stood out against very strong opposition for the size of our team, the range and volume of activities and the users we cater for.
